- Transfer the FSS Black and Tan Coonhounds to the AKC registry, effective January 1, 2008. There will be a one-time conversion of all FSS Black and Tan Coonhounds from their current number to HX ####. Breeders and owners would be able to see that this dog was from FSS or if a dog had an FSS dog in its pedigree. Some may look for that, wanting to use hunting stock, while others might avoid it. Any litters and offspring of these dogs would have the standard HD, HE, etc. prefix. Dogs registered in the future, based upon UKC or Professional Kennel Club pedigrees would also be assigned the HX prefix. The stud book would remain open to dogs with acceptable PKC or UKC pedigrees that met all AKC requirements until December 31, 2010. Several new breeds have had this three year Open Registration in the past. Dogs with this HX prefix would have full registration and competition privileges.
- The FSS National Breed Club may retain licensed status, and may continue to hold Coonhound events only. It may not become eligible for AKC membership or to hold AKC shows or Companion events. The AKC Parent Club, on the other hand, would have the prerogative to hold Coonhound events if it so chose. The Parent Club will also retain ownership of the breed standard.
