Jagger the black Labrador Retriever works at the airport

Meet Jagger. Jagger is a 10-year-old black and he has made $2.4 million for the Canadian Government.

How has he achieved this great feat? Jagger is a canine currency detector dog who works with his handler, Ian Falzon an officer with Canada Border Services.

Jagger sniffs out individuals who are carrying an excess amount of cash, more than $10,000. He has been trained to indicate based on the smell of the ink that money is printed with. For nearly 10 years Jagger has identified criminals with cash and in doing so, the Canadian government has gathered that $2.4 million in fines and penalties, reports the .

In his career, he has intercepted more than $70 million, including one single bust of $650,000.

After all his hard work, Jagger is on the cusp of retirement; he will retire once he turns 11. Falzon is going to miss having him at work everyday.

“We’ve been going to work every day for almost 10 years and, you know, it’s going to be tough to leave him at home. He is my best friend,” he said.

Falzon believes that retirement will even be hard for Jagger, because he loves working and he loves people. Therefore, Falzon hopes to get Jagger working as a therapy dog.
